TIME TO DANCE!

It’s time to get busy again after a lot of good food during Christmas. Perhaps you’re interested in having a course in salsa, or maybe you’d like to be able to move like Shakira? Whatever choice you make, enter and apply under “When? Where? How?”. We look at the number of applicants and after that we make groups depending on the interest. At the moment we have a few people looking for a great course of beginners salsa so don't hesitate to show us your interest!

For you who have kids, we’re still going strong with our success dancekidz on Saturdays. They try different dancestyles like Michael Jackson, Breakdance, Salsa, Hip Hop, Reggaetón and a lot more. Perhaps it’s time for a bachelorette party. Don’t hesitate to contact us for one hour dazzling dance with whatever content you choose.

And finally… DON’T FORGET our parties at Rydbergs Bar & Matsal every last weekend of the month. Next party coming up is on the 25/2! You’re invited to an unforgettable evening with food, try on dance course, danceshows, DJ’s from Malmo and a lot more.

LET’S DANCE!

Dancekids

Hej!

Dancing with the Salsa Champions
And off we went to the south of Colombia, down to Cali, to dance with the Salsa Champions 2005 Ricardo Murillo & Viviana Vargas. In Cali they have their Dance Academy ”Sabor y Estilo” with several dance groups and dance styles. We were gladly met by this incredibly humble and amazing couple, as we had booked several private lessons to develop our Salsa Caleña, lifts and technique. With a brilliant pedagogy we rapidly learnt the most important in the basic technique and leading, advanced styling, fast footwork, lifting technique etc.
The history of salsa

People have debated back and forth about the origin of Salsa. Some say that it was developed in Cuba, some in NY and some in Puerto Rico. Anyway it had it’s boom in the 60’s, when they mixed the Cuban rhythms with jazz at different nightclubs in NY. To not make the listeners confused they gave the music style the name salsa, which was a good name since salsa means sauce. Just like a sauce has different ingredients, salsa music also was based on a mixture of different rhythms from Cuba. The Cuban rhythms that salsa is based on was played at the Cuban nightclubs during the 40’s, for example mambo and cha cha cha. Even these rhythms have their roots further back in Cuban history, to music such as son and rumba.
